Approximately twenty-five thousand homes in southeastern Queensland woke up without power on Monday morning after intense storm systems swept through the region, bringing strong winds reaching 109km/h.
Massive Ice Stones and Broad Impact
Residents reported giant hailstones measuring up to seven centimeters in particular locations. Weather authorities announced that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Utility workers were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews activated to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.

Meanwhile, approximately 1,000 residents in Victoria also faced energy failures after Melbourne recorded its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
Emergency response teams received 598 emergency reports across the state, primarily for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

Tomorrow was forecast to be the most rainy day, with continued thunderstorm potential predicted across multiple regions of both areas.

Health officials cautioned that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the current weather patterns.
